10. Odunsi The Engine

Bowofoluwa Odunsi made his debut in 2016 with his EP ‘Time of our lives’. This star has been making music from as far back as primary school with a new genre of music, which Odunsi has named Afro Fusion.

Terri made his introduction in the world of Nigerian music through his first ever album, which he named ‘Afroseries’. His album did not feature any other artist, as he felt like he had nothing to prove.

8. Tems

Tems is becoming a well-known Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer. She hit a growth in her fanbase in 2019, thanks to her hit single ‘Try me,’ which has earned her a nomination for an award.

7. Oxlade

This nigerian artist made a debut through his EP, which consisted of six love songs. He made a breakthrough in the music industry after teaming up with Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez. He started his musical journey on soundcloud in 2017 and has since then experienced a successful career.

6. Lady Donli

Zainab Elizabeth Donli, who goes by Lady Donli, was born in Cleveland, Ohio but later moved to the UK to take up an education in law after highschool. Her single ‘wonda wonda’ features Darkovibez, a rapper from Accra, and she holds an imposing figure in the Alté scene.

5. Ms Banks

Ms Banks, who was born Thyra Oji, is a British rapper of Nigerian descent. This 26-year-old star has been writing music ever since she was 11 years old and, in 2014, made her introduction as a star with her mixtape ‘Once upon a grind’. She has received approval from popular rapper Nicki Minaj.

4. Omah Lay

Stanley Omah Dida made his introduction into the music industry with his EP titled ‘Get layd,’ which contained five different tracks. Apple music has selected this star as a favorite new artist of the month, and his songs have earned a spot on top 100 Nigerian songs in Apple music.

3. Buju

Buju has earned himself a spot on Burna boy’s record label, Spaceship records. In 2020, he got the chance of collaborating with his ideal Burna on the song titled ‘Lenu’. His songs feature the afro-fusion genre, and he has been a Headies Award Rookie Nominee ever since his debut in 2019.

2. Bad Boy Timz

Olurunyomi Oluruntimilehin is a rising star of Nigerian music, thanks to his hit single ‘MJ’. When he’s not making music, he is a student at Bells University where he studies computer engineering.

1. Ckay

Chukwuka Ekweani is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer. He started his life in music at the age of 13 and, by 2016, signed on to a record label. In 2019, he made his debut with his Ep ‘Ckay the first’ and has other notable songs such as ‘container’ and ‘last call’.
