Some Android users have reported stumbling on a new voice-calling feature in their Whatsapp mobile applications which indicates the company might just testing an additional feature that is being currently used by apps like Viber and Skype.
A user from India took screenshots of the feature and posted in on Reddit. The screenshots below show what the new feature on Whatsapp might just look like when it is actually implemented. It is quite unclear at this time though of how widespread the new feature rollout is.
Based on the shared video below, WhatsApp voice calling offers several standard call-handling options, including a speakerphone setting, mute button and the ability to continue to send messages while taking a call.
The said version is not available on Google Play Store for public download yet but an update is available in the newest build of the WhatsApp client. There is a possibility that WhatsApp never intended for the feature to go live as the voice call is not fully functional.
If these feature will be implemented fully soon, we do not know for sure; but we are keeping our hands crossed as to see what happens next.
