made-march-edition9How are you? I’m blessed, excited and I’m  thankful for this wonderful  2015, and I thank you guys for having me.

What is your choice of women? The Girlie O’s! I like a woman that is full of life, smart, humble, hard working, pretty, respectful, and God-fearing.

How much ha your life changed comparing your experience five years ago and now?Life has been generally tough. In the past, things never went as planned. Growing up in the ghetto, I had many roadblocks that should have kept me from moving forward in a positive way. But I’m thankful for the support I had my family and friends. They pushed me, they always told me the truth, and they made me who I am today. And now, life is a little bit better. I am seeing the results of all of the works I did in the past. I’m working smarter and I’m making smarter decisions. There is still so much to do, but it is encouraging when you wake up and see your thoughts & ideas are now your reality.

What would you say is your greatest achievement so far?My greatest achievement so far? Hmmm. Moving my family out of the ghetto. I use to dream of the day that I would be able to get a place for my family and put them in a better environment.

What could be that thing you have always yearned for or still look upto? Winning my first Grammy. By God’s grace, I will reach and bless that stage too. For Nigeria, for Africa, for reggae music.Wha YaSay!

Who have you always wanted to work with that you still haven’t?Too many to name, we’re just getting started. Future, August Alsina, Jay-Z, Major Lazer, Busy Signal, Mavado, Nicki Minaj, Tinashe to name a few.

Your record distribution deal with VP records made several tabloids news around the world. Are you comfort- able in that position, having many eyes on you now?The higher you climb, the more people can see you. It comes with being ambitious. Although I like to be private, I realize that my music has and will influence millions of people around the world. I accept the responsibility of being a role model and the attention that comes along with it.

Would you mind giving us an updated gist about the deal?Right now, I’m just trying to record great music. I’m working with VP to bring out the best sound, the best collabos, and just continue to grow the brand.

How do you feel about being the artiste of the month of March on MTV Base?thank MTV base for the platform, for supporting my career, and for helping me reach the next level. I was told that no other “new act” in the past has achieved this milestone so quickly. It has been a year and a half since the world first heard my voice and I thank MTV Base and the whole Viacom family for believing in this budding star.

So, your ‘debut album’ how is it coming? Would you like to tell your fans what to expect? The album, is in the works. We are going to shock people. That’s the aim, that’s the focus. My fans should expect the best debut album possible from Patoranking. A world-class masterpiece.

What is the possible title? The title of the album is… You’ll find out soon enough, haha!

Do you feel exposed as an artist putting your emotions out there for people to dissect and experience? The essence of music is to express one’s emotions in a way that the world can relate to. By putting my emotions and life out there, I am inspiring the next person and helping them to tell their story to the world.

When you are recording, do you cut off from  other people’s music? Or do you think its important to stay sub merged keep an eye on what everyone else is doing?hen I am recording, I am in and out of different zones. I don’t think it is possible to cut yourself off from the world or from other music. Life happens to us, we don’t happen to life. We all influence each other, whether it is intentional or not.

When you record, do you keep it in mind how it will play out live? When I record, the song is already playing live in my head and in the heads of those around me. Not just the music, but also the video. Sometimes, the beat inspires the video before the lyrics even come. Every vibe is different. Every recording is done in a unique way and inspired by different things in my environment.

I thank MTV base for the platform, for supporting my career, and for helping me reach the next level. I was told that no other “new act” in the past has achieved this milestone so quickly. It has been a year and a half since the world first heard my voice and I thank MTV Base and the whole Viacom family for believing in this budding star
