MADE: What state are you from?
LOLA: I’m from Chicago Illinois. But I’m also a Lagos girl.
MADE: So you grew up in the US tell us about that?
LOLA: I was born in Chicago. My parents decided to take my siblings and I to Lagos when I was 4. Lived in Surulere until I was 12 then we went back to Chicago and I’ve been there ever since.
MADE: What’s your favorite city in the world and why?
LOLA: My favorite city in the world is Chicago. Because its home. Regardless of what history good or bad the city has, I’ve created a lifetime of memories with family and friends that I wouldn’t change for the world and I’m proud to be from there.
MADE: Talk to us about your passion for acting, when did it start?
LOLA: I wouldn’t say it’s a passion just yet, but I’ve always had interest in it. I took improve and theater classes in college and also my older sister Sheri has had chances to be in box office movies in the United States, and has done a number of theater shows and gospel plays. She is definitely an inspiration. So having that opportunity fall into my lap was exciting and definitely a blessing.

MADE: You’re in the new soap series called Casino, how did you land such a huge role?
LOLA: I was told by a friend about the audition. I was picked amongst a good number of ladies auditioning for the role. It took two days. I gave it my utmost best and God willing, I got the role.
MADE: Where were the series shot and what was the hardest part of filming for you?
LOLA: The series was shot mostly in Ibadan and a few scenes in Lagos. The hardest parts for me were the faux-intimate scenes.
MADE: What should we expect from your character?
LOLA: My characters name is Monisola Akin-Benson. Expect a young woman with a sassy yet go-getter attitude, who will do whatever she wants to get what and “who” she feels she deserves. And that’s just a tiny little bit of who she is. There’s so much of her you’ll enjoy watching.
MADE: What type of music should we expect from you?
LOLA: I’m an R&B friend, lol. So it will be an R&B record for sure, just with a little bit more “up-beat” to captivate the masses.
MADE: It’s a cliche but who are your musical influences?
LOLA: Lol. Cliche or not I still love to answer this question. Brandy is my number one musical influence. Anyone who knows me well knows I love her music to heavens. Lol and of course there and women like Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton. I mention these few….not only because they are talented singers, but also because they are strong- willed and living proof that you must never give up despite adversity. Always follow your heart. Live your dream.
